Grier attended Southlake Christian Academy in Huntersville, North Carolina before transferring to “Davidson Day School” in Davidson, North Carolina. As a junior, he threw for “837 yards” in one game, breaking his previous record of “764 yards” and setting a national record.

As a senior, He led the nation with “4,989 yards” and scored a North Carolina-record 77 touchdowns. He also rushed for “1,251 yards“. He had 13 touchdowns and was named Parade All-American and Mr. Football America.

Grier set state records for “14,565” passing yards, “195” passing touchdowns, “2,955” rushing yards, and “31” rushing touchdowns.
